Determination of thermophysical properties of scale layer on steel at high temperatures
Ondruch, Tomáš ; Votavová, Helena (referee) ; Pohanka, Michal (advisor)
The thesis deals with thermophysical properties of scale layer on steel and their determination at high temperatures. The first part summarizes fundamental characteristics of scales, it is also devoted to principles of heat transfer with emphasis on heat conduction. The following text presents current state of research on scales’ thermophysical properties. Subsequently, the thesis aims to experimental measurement of thermophysical properties by use of laser flash method and conducted measurement is described, as well. The following chapters present a finite-element numerical model of the measurement aparatus and computation technique for determination of scales’ thermophysical properties is explained. The obtained results are compared with available data and sensitivity analysis of selected model parameters is carried out.
Mechanical and thermophysical properties of illite-based ceramic materials.
Kušnír, Jakub ; Knapek, Michal (advisor) ; Chmelík, František (referee)
Title: Mechanical and thermophysical properties of illite-based ceramic materials. Author: Jakub Kušnír Department: Department of Physics of Materials Supervisor: RNDr. Michal Knapek, Ph.D, Department of Physics of Materials Abstract: This work examines high purity illite-based ceramic material (illite) with varying porosity, illite with fly-ash addition and textured illite- and kaolin-based ceramics. Investigated illitic clay originated from the Tokaj region in Hungary and contained 84 wt.% of illite. Kaolinitic clay (Sedlecký Kaolin Inc.) contained 88-94 wt.% of kaolinite. Samples were prepared using different heating regimes based on the type of material, with maximum firing temperature of 1100 řC. The porosity was controlled by adding charcoal powder to the green body before firing. Fly-ash waste from the combustion of powdered oil shale from Estonia was used as another additive. The microstructure of samples was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy. Mechanical properties were studied by compression tests with concurrent application of advanced investigation methods: Acoustic emission (AE) and Digital image correlation. By means of thermal analyses and AE we also investigated the frost resistance of samples with porosity created by charcoal combustion. Keywords: illite; kaolinite; ceramics;...
Thermophysical properties of hydrogen peroxide modeled with the cubic equations of state using software package TREND
Vinš, Václav ; Prokopová, Olga
The research report focuses on modeling of thermophysical properties of hydrogen peroxide intended for use as rocket propellant. Based on the literature review of available data and property correlations, the cubic equations of state by Soave-Redlich-Kwong and Peng-Robinson were developed. The equations were implemented in thermodynamic property package TREND developed at Ruhr University Bochum. Tabulated data for the saturated vapor and liquid and for a set of given isobars were generated. Obtained results will be used as inputs in the CFD simulations of the hydrogen peroxide flows.

Thermophysical properties of ionic liquids and binary mixtures containing them – An overview
Součková, Monika ; Pátek, Jaroslav ; Klomfar, Jaroslav
The report provides a comprehensive review of literature sources of experimental data on the thermophysical properties of ionic liquids, a novel class of materials with a wide range of applications. The literature search was focused on pure ionic liquids as well as on the binary mixtures containing them. The following thermophysical properties have been included into the study: density, isobaric heat capacity, speed of sound, surface tension, vapor-liquid equilibrium pressures, solid-liquid phase transition temperatures, viscosity, electrical conductivity, refractive index, activity coefficients, and decomposition temperatures. The results of the search are presented in the form of synoptic tables. The reference list of bibliography contains 97 items.
Thermophysical properties of ordinary water substance /KKE-20-2001/
Mareš, R. ; Šifner, Oldřich
The necessity of the replacement of IAPS-84 formulation with the new formulation IAPWS-IF97 is stressed in our report. Sources of the IF97 formulation, Steam Tables and software based on the new formulation are summarized. A proposal of Statement on t**computation of thermodynamic properties of ordinary (light) water substance is presented We presume that the Statement will be attached to the Report IAERA-TECDOC-949 or separately published in the data base of IAEA. News from the 2001 Annual IAPWS Me
